Raise the Flag at the San Diego Fair this Summer!

Every morning before the Fair begins, we have an opening ceremony at the O’Brien (main) Gate, about a half hour before the gates open. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts raise the flags, and local singers and instrumentalists perform the National Anthem. After that you and your troop, and parent chaperones can explore the fair, participate in the patch earning scavenger hunt and have a great day for free!

Daily Flag Raising

Open to all San Diego County Scout troops that have patch-earning capabilities. We raise both the American and California flags each day at Opening Ceremonies. The Fair provides admission and parking credentials so your group can enjoy the Fair the same day you raise the flag.

Multiple groups may assist in each day’s Flag Raising, but all groups will be a part of the ceremony.

Before you start the application process:

  • Check the Fair Calendar for a date you’d like to participate.
  • Read the Flag Raising Information [PDF document]. It will answer most questions you might have.
  • Click on the link below to submit your application. A copy of this application will be emailed to you.

If you have been notified that your group will be raising the flag, use this form to submit the names of the participants.
