2012 Tournament of Roses Parade

Float Decorating

Attention Girls and Troop Leaders!  If you’re interested in decorating a float for the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade, please read all the information atwww.gsfloatdecorators.com.  Float decorating is not for everyone.  In addition to age requirements, float decorating requires patience, willingness to help no matter what the task, and long hours.  If you have allergies, this may not be a good experience for you.

Dry decorating takes place before December 25 and is for Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.  Wet decorating takes place from December 25, 2011 through January 2, 2012 and is for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.  Float Decorating Shift Registration opens September 1, 2011 and is only offered online at www.gsfloatdecorators.com.

There are thousands of Girl Scouts who want to participate and only a limited number can work on the Girl Scout float.  We have opportunities for Girl Scouts to experience decorating other parade floats and they can visit the Girl Scout float and take pictures during their breaks.

For much more information about getting involved check out the LA Girl Scouts website.

Support the Girl Scout Float

Every Girl Scout can ride the Girl Scout float virtually!  For $5, you can donate a flower in honor of or in memory of a Girl Scout, Troop Leader, Troop, Girl Scout alumna, colleague, mother, daughter, or friend.  The name of your loved one will be printed on a flower vial and travel the 5 1/2 mile parade route on January 2, 2012.  Click here to honor a loved one, or several today and send your honoree this card.

Purchase Girl Scout Zinnia seeds from GSGLA stores or reneesgarden.com.  A portion of the sale supports our float and  parade programs for the Girl Scouts.  We encourage you to plant a garden of Zinnias as your school, community center or city hall and send us a photo to post online!

We encourage you to make a larger donation to our float. Every gift helps us build a float that celebrates all that Girl Scouting means to millions of girls and women around the world.
