Upcoming Events:

Encampment/Sunnytrails Bridging Ceremony:  Friday, May 18th – Sunday, May 20th

Troops attending encampment: $67 per girl/$50 per adult. Space limited to 140 girls. (Consuelo Quintanar)

Bridging Ceremony – Troops: coming for the day only (Sunday, May 20):  $12 per girl/$6 per adult (includes lunch, patch, craft for girls, only lunch for adults)

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner: Thursday, May 24th, 6pm. $15/person. Register online (Narda Hirn /Elisa Hilliard). Registration is closed and all registered attendees will be receiving an email from the recognitions team.

Mission Sisterhood Journey in a Weekend: Saturday, May 26th – Sunday, May 27th. Camp Whispering Oaks. Seniors only. Prioritizing girls attendance, adults will be limited. $20/adult; $25 girls. (Claudia Silva)

Powder Puff Derby: Saturday June 3rd, 11am – 2pm Mountain Hawk Park. (Emily Santelices)

Camp Surf: Friday, October 12th – Sunday, October 14th. $130/participant. YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach. Juniors & up. Includes modern accommodations, meals, and fun activities: surfing, bodyboarding, wall climbing, archery, arts & crafts, skit night, campfire, S’mores, beach volleyball, gaga ball, swaps trading time. Train Trip to LA: November 10th-11th, 2018. Includes sleepover in Santa Monica. Limited to 50 Spots; Juniors and up. $95 per person. Submit Train Trip Registration Form with payment as soon as possible to save your spots! Full refunds & cancellations available till September 3rd. (Deb Lechner)

 

Announcements:

Pollution Prevention Activity (“Poo Patch”): Action Research is working with County of San Diego Watershed Protection Program to provide fun, important pet waste education. Programs aim to reduce stormwater pollution by engaging dog owners in the unincorporated areas of the county in proper dog waste pick-up behaviors. They offer a “Poo Patch” upon completion of their activity.

2018 Annual Troop Financial Report:

  • Financial period: May 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018
  • Due Date: Submit by June 1, 2018 via the GS Virtual Toolkit
  • Annual Financial Report How To Guide on the GS website (Volunteers/Troop Group Finances) & recorded webinar available. Note: The new Tracking Spreadsheet was revised in early May. If “Troops Dues Collected” is the first option listed in the Category drop-down box, you are using the most current version.
  • INCENTIVE – we are raffling Sunnytrails Spirit T-Shirts to wear to VCC in August!  To be entered in the raffle, all leaders must complete three requirements:
    • Submit financials by June 1st (remember to submit a screenshot of your confirmation to Marilou Thomas, Service Unit Treasurer: treasurer@gssunnytrails.com);
    • All leaders must have on their official roster two registered, non-related adults performing the role as Troop Leader and/or Co-Troop Leader; and
    • All leaders must have at least five girls currently registered for this year on your troop roster.

Cookie season wrap up: Please email the cookie team to arrange for pick up of remaining awards and patches. They cannot guarantee the condition of rewards that they store with prolonged pick up dates. Also, please be on the lookout for a survey regarding how our service unit operated this season – please provide feedback. Lastly, please update contact information in your “MyGS” accounts for girls and troops continuing next year to receive information for the ‘18-’19 cookie season.

Event Calendar 2018-19: Planning meeting was held on Thursday, April 26 and all events scheduled to occur for the next GS year are listed on the tentative calendar available to view on our website.
