As a reminder, all in-person Girl Scout activities/events have been cancelled, postponed, or moved to a virtual platform through May 31.  We are doing our part to help keep you and your loved ones safe by practicing social distancing. For more information on how Girl Scouts San Diego is responding to COVID-19, please visit their “What’s New” page on their website. Please continue to keep an open mind as although we have amazing events planned in the very near future, please be prepared to pivot should they need to be cancelled or postponed last minute.

The following Events have been Moved Online

  • 2020-2021 SU Calendar Planning: If you are planning to hold an event next year, please email managersramb@gssunnytrails.com with your requested dates and we will calendar you in. If there are any conflicts, one of the service unit managers will be in touch with you. Please note, priority will be given to those troops who are rescheduling a cancelled event due COVID-19.
  • SU Court of Awards: We would still like to celebrate girls’ achievements throughout the year. Please let us know which of your girls/troops have earned community service awards (Community Service Bar or Service to Girl Scouting Bar), Torch Award, Leadership Award (Leaders in Action [LiA]), and high awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold even if they are due to complete during the summer). Please email the information along with any photos of them working on their awards to recognitions@gssunnytrails.com with the subject line: Court of Award no later than May 1st. We will be recognizing them virtually through social media. By submitting your photos, you are giving us permission to post them on our Sunny Trails Facebook page, Sunny Trails website, and possibly Girl Scouts San Diego website and social media platforms as well. We are assuming any other individuals (girls or adults) in the photos have also given you permission to submit them to us.
  • SU Volunteer Appreciation: We are not holding an appreciation dinner at this time, but we would still like to recognize our amazing volunteers virtually. We will mail you your pins and certificates if you submit a digital Service Unit Awards of Distinction form by the deadline.
  • Deadline to submit Troop Leader/Assistant Leader Service Unit Awards of Distinction forms is May 15th. We have created a digital form which you may fill out here.
  • We would still love to have your photos! We will use these at a later date for recognition. By submitting your photos, you are giving us permission to post them on our Sunny Trails Facebook page, Sunny Trails website, and possibly Girl Scouts San Diego website and social media platforms as well. We are assuming any other individuals (girls or adults) in the photos have also given you permission to submit them to us. Please email your photos to recognitions@gssunnytrails.com with the subject line: Volunteer Appreciation.
  • We are still collecting information to maintain accurate recognition data for all of our amazing Sunny Trails volunteers. We thank you for your cooperation in helping us by completing the recognitions digital questionnaires which are now LIVE on our website.

You will be able to edit your responses year after year and will help keep our recognition records accurate and up to date!

  • MEdia Journey in a Day for Cadettes:was scheduled for April 26 (Karen Rostadha-Bonner, Troop 6167)
  • Spring Encampment: For any questions, please email Marisa at encampment@gssunnytrails.com.
  • Mother-Daughter Tea  was scheduled for May 8th
  • Broomball was scheduled for May 15
  • Come Make a Fairy House with Tinkerbell for Daisies was scheduled for May 23 (Adrian Dilg, Troop 4795)

  • Creative Writing Workshop was scheduled for April 19 (Elisa Hilliard, Troop 6139)
  • Cybersecurity Workshop was scheduled for May 2 GSTroop6114@gmail.com (Leivy Boyd, Troop 6114)
  • Brownie Badge Workshop was scheduled for May 16 (Marisa Segoviano/Jessica Thomas, Troop 6144)

Fall Events

  • Leadership Camp for Cadettes and older: SAVE THE WEEKEND! Sept 4-7, Balboa campus (Marilou Thomas)
  • Camp Surf for Brownies and older: Oct 9-11; YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach; $145/participant. (Julie Wunderly) Register online on Sunny Trails’ website. Contact Julie Wunderly at juliewunderly@gmail.com.

  • Lifetime Membership Scholarship deadline June 1st. More information can be found at Sunny Trails Scholarships 
  • Service Unit Leadership Team vacancies for 2020-21:
    • Activity Co-Consultant
    • Encampment Co-Director
  • Council’s Volunteer Celebration:
    • Council Volunteer Celebration: early November (exact date and location TBD)
    • Nominations and endorsements for council level awards can be made online until June 15. One nomination and two endorsements are required for each nominee.
