Cadette Juliette’s creating pet adoption awareness throughout the community.
Jimena and Isabella are two Juliettes in Sunnytrails Service Unit working on various projects to help animals for their Silver Award Project. They spoke at the recent service unit meeting about an upcoming humane society walk called Walk For Animals. They are very excited to be a part of this event and hope that troops throughout our service unit will join in.
Jimena and Isabella have been working together over the last year to earn their silver award by creating pet adoption awareness throughout our community. First they created a donation
Bin at their local Petco, collecting food, toys, treats, etc to be donated to an organization that holds dog adoption days throughout the year at Petco. One weekend these Cadettes were permitted to help this organization to care for the dogs while they waited to be adopted. They had a display board at the event that they put together with facts about the importance of pet Adoption and how animals need our help. They have gathered their dues money over the last year to purchase supplies to make almost 100 dog toys
that they will donate to the their local humane society so these dogs will have a toy while they wait to be adopted. On May 5th these Juliette’s will hold a booth at the humane society walk. The humane society was so Impressed he work these Girl Scouts have done, they waived the booth fee. At the walk they will spread the word about the importance of Pet adoption along side another troop from San Diego that will be providing information about animal safety. This is a great team up and they should be able to reach out to thousands of people in the Community. Additionally, the humane society has offered all Girl Scouts and their families to participate in this event at half off! Simply use the code GS18 upon signing up for the discount. A pancake breakfast will be served along with tons of fun giveaways for pets.
